Could you be our new volunteer driver?
Peterborough Foodbank is looking for two volunteer drivers to help with our Saturday food bank centre. Working on a fortnightly rota, the volunteer drivers will play a big part in the running of our Saturday food bank.
The drivers will deliver stock from our warehouse to St Luke’s Church, help unload it and be part of the Saturday team for the food bank session. At the end of the session the driver will take the stock back to our warehouse.
There are some basic requirements for this volunteer role:
- A UK Drivers Licence
- Comfortable driving a vehicle with a tail lift
- Willing and able to move our stock cages from the van into the centre
- You need to be free from 10am to 1.15pm on your volunteering Saturday
Full training will be provided, and you’ll be part of a friendly, fun and supportive team.
One of our Saturday Supervisors, Sue, said: “Volunteering with Peterborough Foodbank is a really rewarding experience. We help people in our community with a cup of tea, a chat and an emergency food parcel. The drivers play a vital role, and we can’t wait to have some new people on our teams.”
We have two Saturday teams who volunteer on a fortnightly basis and a driver is required in each team. If you are interested in this role, please email [email protected] and the team will arrange a chat with you.
Volunteer drivers on other days
Occasionally, we need volunteers who can drive on other days of the week. If you are interested in volunteering and can drive on any weekday, please get in touch.
We currently need a Monday volunteer driver. Are you available on Monday’s (excluding bank holidays).
Contact us on [email protected] and we can discuss with you in more detail what this essential volunteer role covers.
