Harvest food campaign launches on National Food Bank Awareness Day

Join Peterborough Foodbank this Friday, 4 September,  as we launch our Harvest 2026 campaign on National Food Bank Awareness Day 2026.

We want schools, churches and community groups to support us by hosting a food donation drive.

By collecting much-needed food and household essentials, you can help us keep our shelves stocked and ensure we can continue providing life-changing support to people across our community.

Alan, our food bank supervisor said: “Harvest is a vital time for us to bring in food donations to make sure our warehouse shelves are stocked for winter when we will see more demand for our food banks.  We are launching our campaign today on National Food Bank Awareness Day because we need more people talking about food poverty  in Peterborough and the need to support their local food bank. We are currently spending £6,000 a month on food on top of the donations we receive to keep up with the demand in our food bank centres. We need your support.”

The demand for our services remains high. Last year we distributed just under 6,000 emergency food parcels, which equates to feeding 12,662 people.

Peterborough Foodbank offers more than just food parcels.  We provide a warm and welcoming environment, where people feel valued and loved.  At some of our centres we offer people a cup of tea, a chat and signposting to other services.

About us

Peterborough Foodbank is a partnership of local faith groups that work together to tackle food poverty. We are part of the Trussell network. We provide a three-day parcel of nutritionally balanced emergency food donated by the local community which is given out to people in need who are referred by frontline care professionals.

We have food banks in 5 locations across the city, operating over 6 days of the week.

As well as food, our centres offer a listening ear, a cup of tea and signposting to other services.

We currently spend £6,000 a month on food, on top of donations received.
